Just a Quick Story: My Story!
My name is Alan Smith and I live with my family in a beautiful area in Central Coastal California - where the giant Redwood trees meet the sea!
One day a couple of years ago, I became alarmed when, after making a deposit in my checking account, I noticed a negative balance. After inquiring, the bank gave me a mini-statement which showed that I had withdrawn $300.00 per day for five (5) days from my account using ATM's in Southern California. I had not visited SoCal in months, so it couldn't have been me. Obviously, someone else had gained access to my checking account by posing as me.
I closed the account, but it didn't end there.
Then, I started receiving notices that "I" was opening or trying to open accounts at Macy's Sears, J. C. Penny's and the Phone Company, among others. "They" (whoever "they" were) became ME and were buying things in my name for which I would have to pay.
My reaction to that was to make a bunch of calls and fill out a bunch of forms. None of which I had time for.
